Valkyries stars Kate Martin and Tiffany Hayes will be on hand at NBA All Star Weekend Friday — and they'll be featured guests on Sue Bird and Megan Rapinoe's "A Touch More" podcast to boot.
Bird and Rapinoe will be broadcasting from the Golden State Valkyries' brand-new practice facility at 1011 Broadway in Oakland, California. The foursome will also be joined by WNBA MVP A'ja Wilson.
Details of the "Valentine's Day Special" edition of the podcast are so far being kept under wraps, but fans can buy tickets to watch the recording in person on Eventbrite.
What is the "A Touch More" podcast?
Bird and Rapinoe are both legends in their respective sports (and, frankly, in general). Each week the duo dives into the latest women's sports headlines and the most recent games and matches — and they do so in a way that is appealing to both long-time fans and followers of women's sports and people who are new. They also share their own stories from their years as elite athletes and offer a truly unique glimpse into the lives they and all of our favorite sports stars have lived.
What will Kate Martin and Tiffany Hayes talk about on the "A Touch More" podcast?
It's not exactly clear what Martin and Hayes will be speaking about on the podcast, but odds are the pair will be showing off the new Valkyries facilities and speaking about what they're looking forward to for the new team.
The Valks announced Tiffany Hayes had officially joined the team on February 6. Signing Hayes away from the Las Vegas Aces is a major win for the new team (and for Hayes, who reportedlysigned a $200,000 contract). The Valkyries have been in need of a guard who can lead, and both GM Ohemaa Nyanin and Head Coach Natalie Nakase have reiterated the team's emphasis on drafting shooters.
Martin is one of the original players who the Valkyries selected during the December 2024 Expansion Draft. That evening she explained why she's a great choice for the team and what she's most looking forward to this season.
"Coach Nakase is somebody you're going to run through a brick wall for... those are the kind of coaches that you just want to give your all for," Martin told ESPN.
"My ceiling is very high," Martin continued. "Coach Nakase hangs her hat on defense. I want to be able to be somebody who can lock down the number one or two option on other teams."
