It's official: the Golden State Valkyries will open up the 2025 season when the new team takes on the Los Angeles Sparks in San Francisco. The game is one of two on May 16, 2025 (the Dallas Wings, who are expected to draft UConn's Paige Bueckers, will play host to the Minnesota Lynx).
The Valkyries will play a total of 44 games and wrap their season on Sept. 11, 2025, in Minneapolis. The newly expanded playoffs will swiftly follow.
The schedule announcement comes four days before the Valkyries Expansion Draft on Dec. 6. The league as a whole is coming off of a record season in terms of viewership, and as of Nov. 12, the Valkyries surpassed 20,000 season ticket deposits — an indication that there is a lot of interest in the new team in the Bay Area.
