Golden State Valkyries guard Kate Martin is one of the latest athletes to sign on to Athleta's Power of She Collective, the brand announced January 29. Martin is joined by the Indiana Fever's Lexie Hull.
The campaign, which the brand launched back in 2023, helps support causes related to women and girls through a variety of ways. Members of the collective include present and former Olympians and professional athletes who sign on to act as mentors, attend events, and advise Athleta on concerns in sports and products the brand should develop.
"At Athleta, we're committed not only to delivering innovative products for women but also to fostering a community built on the belief that powerful women move women forward," said Chris Blakeslee, the president and CEO of Athleta. "Lexie and Kate are not only exceptional athletes but also remarkable women, and as a brand that champions the whole athlete, we're proud to welcome them to our Power of She Collective."
The members of the collective also have the opportunity to promote their own causes and concerns.
"It's an honor to join the Power of She Collective alongside such an incredible group of athletes who are advancing both women's sports and female empowerment," Martin said in the press release. "I'm looking forward to working with Athleta to help elevate and recognize female athletes in the way they truly deserve."
Athleta highlighted Martin's dedicated fan base and her own steely determination to get the job done as part of why they wanted to bring her on board. "Kate is known for her intense and creative workouts that she shares via social media captivating fans with her hard work and tenacity grit," the brand explained.
Lexie Hull is looking forward to partnering with Kate Martin
In an interview with Women's Fastbreak on SI, Hull said she's "excited" to work with Martin. "She's a great person," Hull explained. "I knew her a little bit through Caitlin [Clark], but I am so excited that they've chosen Kate as someone I get to do a lot of things with, and I know she's an inspiration to a lot of young girls."
"That just goes to show that Athleta is working with people that they feel match their values and really want to be an inspiration," Hull added. "I think both of us are excited about being a positive change for women's sports and having a brand like Athleta behind us to help drive that."
